Implants

An implant is an artificial replacement of the root of a natural tooth used to replace missing teeth. It is a technology that has revolutionized dental treatment and provides tremendous results for the patient.

In simple terms, it is a screw like structure made of titanium and requires a simple surgery to be placed within the bone. This is followed by replacing the lost tooth with a tooth colored crown, usually made of Ceramic, Zirconia or a fusion of metal and ceramic.

In all, an implant looks, feels and functions just like a natural tooth.

Implants can be used to replace single or multiple teeth. The advantage of implants lies in the fact that people unhappy with “Loose teeth” or “loose dentures” can get “fixed teeth”.

To begin with, certain advanced techniques are used for the assessment of the patient and it involves a small surgery to get the implant in place. These may include a series of radiographs(CBCT) and the use of 3D Nobel guide system. After the preliminary analysis, the implants are placed.

At Smile Dental Solutions our Implantologist uses some of the globally leading brands of implants like Nobel- Biocare, Biohorizon and Adin, which are popular world over. These are highly compatible with the human bone and in 90% of the people, lasts a lifetime.

Advantages of Implants

  1. Implants are the most natural looking and stable replacements for lost teeth.
  2. No clasps or visible attachments are required.
  3. No cutting down of adjacent natural teeth is required.Since implants share the functional load during chewing, they contribute to maintaining the health of other teeth.
  4. Implants are ideal replacements for preserving the health of the remaining bone left after loss of teeth.
  5. They do not shift or slip like removable partial dentures or complete dentures.
  6. Nearly the same shade as natural tooth can be acquired.
  7. Provides a long term solution.

With all these benefits, implants are nearly ideal solutions for problems related to loss of teeth, thereby enhancing your confidence and giving you that smile back.
